Salary: $66000 - $70000 p.a. plus super

About the Job
Duties include:
• Ensure that all growing media preparations are done as per established procedures.
• Train / monitor operators where required to ensure tasks are done as per standard procedures
• Prepare working programmes daily / weekly / monthly to facilitate implementation of respective tasks
• Assess quality of work and take corrective actions where applicable
• Ensure that all material inputs are adequate for respective operations
• Ensure the upkeep of all crop and harvest equipment.
• Liaise with other teams as required where required
• Operate mobile plant and implements
• Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs
• Operate irrigation systems
• Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases
• Assist with the repair and trouble-shooting irrigation and drainage systems
• Monitor and manage nursery plants
• Operate spreading and seeding equipment

Skills/Qualifications and Experience Required for the Role
• At least relevant AQF Cert III or Cert IV qualifications or equivalent OR 3 years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with relevant formal training OR 5years employment experience as a production horticulturalist with no formal training.
• Experience in a tomato glasshouse environment, preferably with experience in all areas of crop work.
• A good knowledge of tomato crop nutrition, pest and disease management and growing strategies.
• Proven ability to monitor the crop and glasshouse environment, identify and investigate issues and make timely reports and recommendations.
• Good understanding and ability to use relevant glasshouse management systems including Priva and Nitea.
• Good communication skills and the ability to effectively lead a team.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
• Be outcome focused with a track record of achieving performance, quality and safety targets.
• Excellent attention to detail, time management and organisational skills;
• Good IT skills including the use of MS excel and Outlook.
• Commitment to WHS, quality, hygiene and food safety.
